We all know the classic Christmas arrangement with floral foam, made with conifers and pine cones. To give a surprising twist to this Christmas piece, we’ll show you how to make a Christmas arrangement with orchids. What’s more, it’s a Christmas arrangement you can enjoy for two to three months.
Supplies for making a Christmas arrangement
By making your own Christmas arrangement with orchids, you can vary endlessly and add your favorite orchids and Christmas decorations. In this video, we show you what you need when preparing a Field Inlay and how to put it together step by step.
What do you need to make your own Christmas arrangement?
- Tray
- Inlay of your choice
- 3 Kolibri Orchids (note: make sure you choose the right pot size Kolibri Orchids to fit in this inlay)
- 3 Kolibri Greens with pot size 6 cm
- 6 WaterWicks
- Moss
- Christmas decoration
- Watering can with water
Step by step
Step 1:
Take the tray and place the inlay on it. Use a watering can to fill the inlay with water up to the indicated line. Make sure the water doesn’t go above the line/curve of the inlay; this prevents the orchids and green plants from getting too much water.
Step 2:
We’ve reached an important step in making your Christmas arrangement. Take the WaterWicks and push them into the bottom of the nursery pots of the Kolibri Orchids and Kolibri Greens. Make sure you hold the Kolibri Orchids by the heart. This ensures the Kolibri Orchids stay securely in the nursery pot.
Step 3:
Place the Kolibri Orchids in the inlay of the Christmas arrangement. The WaterWick strings should fall into the water. Thanks to these strings, the orchids and green plants can water themselves.
Step 4:
Take the moss and place it around the inlay. Secure the moss with a golden iron wire.
Step 5:
Place the Kolibri Greens in the inlay.
Step 6:
Time to add the Christmas decorations to your Christmas arrangement! Decorate the arrangement with Christmas baubles to your own taste. We’ve chosen golden Christmas decorations and Christmas lights. Extra cozy during the dark days.
You’re now finished with your own Christmas arrangement with orchids, how lovely! Thanks to the WaterWicks, the Kolibri Orchids and Kolibri Greens will water themselves. Check after a week if the water has run out. Don’t see any more water in the inlay? Then you can top it up by adding water to the center of the inlay.
