What is biological crop protection?
Biological crop protection means that we control pests with their natural enemies. Instead of chemical agents, we use small predatory mites, for example, that tackle harmful insects.
One of the pests that orchid growers must be alert to is thrips. These are small insects that can cause damage to leaves and flowers. By using predatory mites, we tackle the problem at the source – in a smart and natural way.
This keeps the ecosystem in our greenhouse in balance.
Smart technology helps nature
In our greenhouses, we combine biology with the latest modern techniques. Every day, a drone flies over the crop. This drone identifies spots where plants need extra attention at a very early stage.
This allows us to make very targeted adjustments and deploy extra biological protection exactly where it’s needed. No waste and no unnecessary agents, just tailor-made care where required.
