Looking for the best care for your green plants from Kolibri Company? Our Kolibri Greens are small but incredibly strong, and with grower Rob’s care tips, they’ll last even longer in your home. Learn more about the best location and watering to make your green plants shine.
Location for green plants
Green plants require a bright spot, but not in direct sunlight. Make sure our Kolibri Greens aren’t placed on a windowsill where the sun shines brightly on them, as this can burn the leaves. So, care for your green plants by placing them in a bright spot in your home, such as on a side table, a wall shelf, or a TV stand. Only the Succulent can handle sunlight well and won’t burn. You can therefore place these on a windowsill where the sun shines.
Watering green plants
Once your green plant has found a nice spot in your home, it’s time for the next step: watering. When caring for any green plant, it’s important not to overwater. In fact, the number one cause of death for green plants is too much water. In the summer, caring for a green plant will require a bit more attention, as plants use more water due to warmer temperatures. In the following paragraphs, we’ll explain how much water to give each species.
Tip: before watering your Kolibri Greens, feel the soil to see if it’s dry. Does the soil feel dry? Then it’s time to water.
Caring for our green Kolibri Greens plants
Caring for Succulents
Succulents are green plants with a strong character and are known as fleshy plants. They owe their strong character not only to the fact that they can stand in direct sunlight, but they also need very little water. Ideal if you’re just starting to care for green plants and still need to practice. Why can a Succulent go so long without water? They naturally contain sap and store moisture in their roots, stems, and leaves. Therefore, when caring for your green plant, give it no more than 50cc of water once every three weeks.
Caring for Sansevieria
Just like Succulents, a Sansevieria doesn’t need much care and can easily survive for several weeks without water. Only give a small splash of water, about 50cc, when the soil feels dry. A tip from grower Rob if you think you’ve overwatered: three days after watering, push your knuckles into the potting soil. Does the soil feel wet on the inside? Then you’ve given too much water and can give a bit less next time.
Caring for Rhipsalis
Fun fact: just like an orchid, the Rhipsalis grows as an epiphyte on trees in tropical regions. Caring for this green plant requires a bit more attention than a Succulent. The Rhipsalis needs more water, but in small amounts. Give the Rhipsalis a little bit of water once every two weeks. As for location, the Rhipsalis does best in partial shade.
Caring for Schefflera
Did you choose an elegant green plant that looks like a mini tree? Then you’ve probably brought home the Schefflera mini tree. You care for this green plant by also placing it in partial shade and giving it about 50cc of water once a week. In the summer, we recommend keeping the soil slightly moist so the Schefflera has enough water during the warmer days.
Grower Rob has now shared his tips with you, and it’s time to get started yourself. Of course, you might have questions or doubts about the care. Feel free to contact us, and we’ll be happy to help you enjoy your green plants for as long as possible.
