What does an HR officer do?
‘’As an HR officer for Kolibri, I spend my days conducting staff interviews, answering questions about employment conditions and training, and recruiting and selecting new employees. But my work doesn’t stop at these tasks alone; flexibility and being able to respond quickly to the needs of employees are also important in my role.
I am responsible for the three Kolibri locations, so a typical day can vary from talking to employees to visiting another location. The variety in my activities makes every day different and challenging.’’
Getting to know Kolibri
‘’Before I worked at Kolibri, I had never bought an orchid. I associated it with being an indoor plant on a windowsill. But now that I work here, I have gained a new appreciation for orchids. I love that interior trends are taken into account and would now want to put every orchid in my home.
A highlight of my work is conducting performance reviews with our employees. This two-way conversation between employer and employee gives us the chance to discuss the development and ambitions of our staff. It is very satisfying to listen to their stories and advise them on their personal development.’’

‘’Kolibri likes to invest in its employees through training and development. We recently started the Mflix Academy, a training platform where our employees can develop their skills in collaboration and leadership. I stay up-to-date by following the news, HR platforms, and sounding board groups to keep abreast of collective labor agreement developments and changes in labor laws.’’
The best thing about your job…
‘’But what I like most about my job at Kolibri is working with our employees. Advising and guiding them to achieve their ambitions gives me satisfaction. At Kolibri, employees are given the opportunities to develop themselves, which is very nice.
